Orthodontics in Woodland Hills and Calabasas

Dr. Irani has been trained in orthodontics and been transforming smiles with Invisalign and dental braces since 2005. He has been providing orthodontic services to patients in Woodland hills – Calabasas and surrounding neighborhoods since opening Mulholland Dental in 2010.
What sets our office apart from other is that we offer Invisalign, Six Month Braces, and comprehensive orthodontics. Here is a quick guide as to how they are different.

– For late teens and adults
– Patients need to be disciplined to wear the aligners 22 hrs a day
– Less doctor control
– More hygienic than braces as you can remove, brush and floss
– Less visible
– More expensive treatment.

Six Month Braces:
– For late teens and adults
– The goal is to get the best smile in the shortest amount of time (cosmetic braces)
– Only address issues on anterior teeth, like crowding and spacing
– Treatment time usually six months
– Less expensive due to shorter treatment time.

Traditional Braces:
– For all patients, usually starting at age 10
– Address any mal-occlusion (bite issues). Check list below
– May need to extract teeth
– Longer treatment, 18-24 months.

Many patients turn to orthodontics to improve their appearance and achieve a beautiful smile. However, it’s important to note that we are not only improving the individuals smile but how the teeth function. These bite issues if left un- addressed will lead to larger problems such as TMJ, speech issues, early tooth attrition, and poor oral health.
Some signs that you may need orthodontics:

Braces - crowding

Crowding. Not enough room in the arch causing teeth to overlap.

Spacing - braces

Spacing. Too much room in the arch leaving spaces between teeth.

Crossbite braces

Crossbite. Lower arch sitting outside of the upper arch.

Openbite braces

Openbite. The front upper and lower teeth don’t meet when biting on back teeth.

Deep bite braces

Deep bite. Excessive overlap of front lower teeth by upper anterior teeth.

Under bite braces

Under bite. When upper front teeth sit behind the lower front teeth.
