Different Types of Teeth Braces

Most people wish they had a straighter, more cohesive smile and teeth braces are a great way to straighten your smile, close in gaps, separate crowded teeth, and fix jaw misalignments. With the verity of options available when it comes to braces, you can find a treatment that will work best for you so you can get a beautiful smile you can’t wait to show off.

Types of Teeth Braces

Metal braces. The most common type of teeth braces are metal braces. They are also the most affordable. Metal brackets are cemented to your teeth and wires are threaded through the brackets which are tightened monthly to pull your teeth into place. Generally, the metal braces are best for younger patients since they are noticeable and stand out against your teeth.

Ceramic braces. These teeth braces are similar to metal braces, except that the brackets are ceramic instead of metal so they blend in with your teeth. A tooth colored or clear wire is also used instead of a metal one. Ceramic braces can be a better choice for older teens and adults who don’t want their braces to be obvious when they laugh or smile.

Lingual Braces. Lingual braces are made of metal with the metal wiring, but one of their advantages is that they are placed on the back of teeth so no one will know you are wearing them. These braces will take the same amount of time as regular braces and the only benefit is the cosmetic appeal. They are also more expensive than metal and ceramic braces.

Invisalign. The most popular option for adults who want straighter teeth is Invisalign. Your dentist will make custom fitted trays that can be removed so you won’t have to worry about food restrictions. When worn, they are almost completely invisible. Invisalign treatments can also be on the more expensive side but will give you most comfort and flexibility.
