Orthodontist in Woodland Hills

Straightening Your Teeth & Improving Your Health

Dr. Irani has been trained in orthodontics and transforming smiles with Invisalign and dental braces since 2005. He has been providing orthodontic services to patients in Woodland Hills, Calabasas, and the surrounding neighborhoods since opening Mulholland Dental in 2010. Many of our testimonials reflect the longstanding relationships we have built in this area.

What sets our office apart from others is that we offer Invisalign, Six Month Braces, and comprehensive orthodontics in addition to our dental services. Here is a quick guide as to how they are different.

  • Less visible
  • Less doctor control
  • For late teens and adults
  • More expensive treatment
  • More hygienic than braces, as you can remove, brush, and floss
  • Patients need to be disciplined to wear the aligners 22 hours a day

Six Month Braces:

  • For late teens and adults
  • Treatment time usually six months
  • Less expensive due to shorter treatment time
  • Only address issues on anterior teeth, like crowding and spacing
  • The goal is to get the best smile in the shortest amount of time (cosmetic braces)

Traditional Braces:

  • May need to extract teeth
  • Longer treatment, 18-24 months
  • For all patients, usually starting at age 10
  • Addresses any mal-occlusion (bite issues). Check the list below.

Many patients turn to orthodontics to improve their appearance and achieve a beautiful smile. However, it’s important to note that we are not only improving the individual’s smile but how the teeth function. These bite issues, if left untreated, will lead to larger problems such as TMJ, speech issues, early tooth attrition, and poor oral health.

Some signs that you may need an orthodontist include:

  • Crowding. Not enough room in the arch causing teeth to overlap.
  • Spacing. Too much room in the arch leaving spaces between teeth.
  • Crossbite. Lower arch sitting outside of the upper arch.
  • Open bite. The front upper and lower teeth don’t meet when biting
    on back teeth.
  • Deep bite. Excessive overlap of front lower teeth by upper anterior teeth.
  • Underbite. When upper front teeth sit behind the lower front teeth.
